What put you on the path to engineering? I’ve always been interested in designing new things and creatively solving problems. Engineering allows me to do these things on a daily basis.
My earliest engineering-related memory: When I was young, I love snorkeling but was annoyed I couldn’t stay underwater longer. To solve this, I designed a make-shift scuba tank by using a bike tube nipple and a 2L coke bottle to pressurize it with air and use that to breath under water. It did not work, but I tried.
What I like about systems design: I love modelling systems and coming up with creative solutions to make systems work. I enjoy seeing my designs go from concept, to paper, to being built.
How mechanical/electrical engineering improves lives: We provide the systems that allow people to go about their day in comfortable and functional environments. We ensure the air you breath is clean and the water you drink keeps flowing.
My dream project is: Designing an NHL hockey rink or practice facility.
I chose Vancouver because: I love the mountains and the ocean. I spend my time hiking in the summer and snowboarding in the winter, so Vancouver is the perfect place where big city meets true nature.
When I’m not working you can find me: In the mountains snowboarding or hiking!
I’m at my best: When I exercise regularly and I’m out in nature.
On my playlist: Zach Bryan, John Summit, Lumineers
I’m surprisingly good at: Spotting animals, small creatures, cool plants and mushrooms in the wild. (I have good eyesight)
