The building’s central air-source heat pumps are located on the roof level in a metallic superstructure enclosed by acoustic louvers. The interior designer wanted to install faux-vines on the louvers. FLOW collaborated with the base-building engineer to review the impact to the louvers’ free area and to ensure no adverse impact to the heat pump operation.

The Stack Rooftop Amenity
The Stack Rooftop Amenity
Oxford Properties Group’sThe Stackwas built for both work and play and is home to some of Vancouver’s most prominent businesses. Our team was engaged to reimagine the building’s communal rooftop terrace that sits atop its 37th floor
Already redefining what a typical office building could be, we helped add to The Stack’s top-tier amenities, aligning the rooftop design with the landlord’s vision.
FLOW provided mechanical engineering for this project, including a plumbing system suitable for outdoor use.
The bar area includes a high-end bar sink, faucet, handwashing station, ice machine and dishwasher. FLOW worked with the interior designer to carefully plan the plumbing layout within a chase encapsulated in the bar millwork. This chase houses all the plumbing lines with dedicated access points. We had to consider the use of heat trace and winterizing techniques to ensure the bar could be safely used year-round, and also winterized at the building operation’s request. Pipe materials had to be selected to withstand UV exposure. A custom cabinet was created in the back bar to enclose the grease interceptor while permitting access for service/maintenance.
The design included a prep kitchen located inside the building on the roof-level. The prep kitchen has a sink, dishwasher and other appliances to support the functionality of the space.
